You shouldn’t judge a slot just by having two or three spins on it or coming to a particular conclusion about it just by looking at it. And that works both ways: a slot may look basic but could be a real winner, or it could look amazing and not be that special.

Rules

As with any slot, the first thing you’ll need to do is decide on your stake. Whatever you enter into the Bet Amount part will be multiplied by 20, so bear that in mind. For example, if you enter 1 Euro in Bet Amount, your actual stake will be 20 Euros. So, it’s the Total Bet Amount that counts.

Symbols pay from left to right and you’ll need at least three of them on a payline to get a payout. The Wild symbol is there to help you and substitute for all symbols, bar the Groovin’ Reels Scatter symbol. The Multi-coloured 7 symbol and the disco ball symbol (we told you it was all about the 70s) are the high-value symbols and worth the same.

Five in a row of either of them pays you 40x your bet. The playing card symbols are, as per usual, the lower value symbols. The Jackpot symbol…is your route to the Jackpot. The clue is in the name. Three get you 30x your bet, four give you 40x, and getting all five pays you the Progressive Jackpot. But should you get a five-way combination of Wilds and Jackpot symbols (e.g., three Wilds + two Jackpots), that will pay you 65x your bet? A very decent second prize.

Tips and strategy

This slot has the feature to stop your Autoplay spins when a certain event happens.

For example, you can adjust it so that if during your 50 Autoplay spins your credit drops below 50 Euros, the Autoplay spins come to an end. Sometimes it’s best to quit when you’re on a bad run.

Conversely, if you pocketed say 200 Euros during Autoplay spins, it might be time to take the money and run, rather than carry on playing the rest of your Autoplay spins and risking losing some, or all, of your profit.

Bonus Rounds

Let’s get into the groove by talking bonus features. Unless you’re lucky enough to walk away with the Progressive Jackpot, what you really want to do is activate the Groovin’ Reels feature. For that, you’ll need a Groovin’ Reels symbol on each of the five reels.

However, if you get three or four of them, they’ll lock in place and the next spin will give you a good shot at getting the one, or two, you still need. If you get those five, one of these five features will come to life like a disco-obsessed patron at a nightclub when ‘I will Survive’ comes on. Which of the five features you get is random.

Ultra Boogie Free Spins

There are added Wilds, the low-value 9 and 10 symbols are removed, and all wins are doubled during your five free spins.

Studio Spins

All Feature symbols are transformed into Disco ball symbols, and these will lock on place for a Re-Spin. But another Disco ball symbol(s) appearing will get you another re-spin. And so on. The round will come to an end either when you don’t get another Disco Ball on the next re-spin or when the whole screen is covered just with Disco Balls. That’s when the party really starts.

Mega Disco Free Spins

This time round you’re heading to the Mega Disco Reels, a separate set of reels, for your five free spins. These reels have added Wilds and the 9 and 10 symbols are again removed, for potentially bigger wins.

Roller Reels

You get to pick from red, blue or green. At the end of your five free spins, you’ll bank every prize that matches the colour you picked at the start.

Super Chic Free Spins

Once again, you’re heading to an alternative set of reels, like shifting across to an adjacent dance floor on Disco night. It’s five free spins again and the set of reels has more Wilds on it than usual.

Design

This being themed around disco, there are plenty of bright-coloured neon lights making an appearance on the reels.  Symbols are sharp and capture the mood of the 70s disco scene. The game is a strange combination of 2021, retro, disco, and kitsch but it certainly works.

Final Thoughts

We said it all at the start, but we can reiterate it here at the end: there‘s more to Groovin’ Reels than what at first appears and part of the fun is finding that out for yourself. The chance to activate one of five separate features means you’ll be eager to keep playing it until you’ve had the chance to experience all five.

But even if you don’t, you’ll never be bored here. As a low-to-medium volatility game, base game wins are frequent so dry runs are rare, although getting those crucial five Groovin’ Reels symbols may require a little patience.
